Rabbis against body exhibition
The Toronto science Center is hosting an exhibition; this exhibition features real human bodies as well as individual organs and body slices.
The goal of this exhibition is: "a chance to see and understand our own autonomy and health".
The Jewish rabbinical organization in Toronto protested. Quote: "All people are created in the image of God the human body carries the divine image. All bodies are to treated with respect ect.
To display human beings in such a manner as this exhibition, demeans the divine image of mankind.
(I skipped a few sentences)
… We feel this exhibition is inappropriate in the extreme and cannot be justified in the name of art or science"
My questions are:
1) Is there according to Halacha any problem with such a display? Giving the fact that the bodies are most probably pure gentile.
2) Also the science center administration is as far as I know run by gentiles, are they obligated to such a Halacha ?
Thank you for responding
