Stop the Terrorists not the Targets
On Friday October 24, 2003, Canada's Minister of Transportation, David Collenette, suggested in a news conference that Canada would assess whether to allow El Al to continue to fly to Canada. This was stated in response to the threat against an El Al plane on Thursday which caused the plane to be rerouted to Montreal and then to Hamilton.
Any restrictions imposed on El Al would further isolate Israel and make travel between our two countries even more difficult. It would also miss the point which is that if there are terrorists in Toronto with surface to air missiles capable of shooting down an airplane, those weapons can be turned against other airlines and other targets. The Canadian government should focus its attention to stop the terrorists, not the innocent targets.
If you agree with this position, I would ask that you please send an email to David Collenette at :

STOP THE TERRORISTS, NOT THE TARGETS
