עקב מזג אוויר הסוער הצפוי, שתי ספינות בנמל חיפה נקשרו לרציף המערבי, המוגן יותר. ספינות אחרות ימתינו בלב המפרץ, עד לשוך הסערה ביום רביעי.
מהנהלת נמל חיפה נמסר כי "בימים האחרונים הופעל הנמל בקצב מואץ על מנת לסיים ולפרוק ספינות שהיו בהמתנה, לפני תחילת הסערה".
