Just when Trials & Tribs thinks he's out of the guessing game about Orange County Court
Judge Stewart Rosenwasser's rumored, reputed, reportedly-a-possibility resignation from
the bench, someone pulls Trials & Tribs back in again.
Rosenwasser took a jury verdict a week ago in a Newburgh assault case, thanked the jurors
for their service and told them it would be at least six more years before they were
called again. "So maybe I'll see you back here again in six years," he said.
A local lawyer, who shall go unnamed because both he and Trials and Tribs like their
kneecaps the way they are, leaned over and stage whispered, "So, does that mean he's not
resigning?"
The judge, who's hinted that he's thinking about hanging up his gavel prematurely,
answered with a look that suggested his last act with a gavel might be to place it,
violently, into the eyeball of an inquiring reporter.
So if Trials & Tribs turns up in a courthouse parking lot in Goshen with a gavel
protruding from his skull, dear reader, you'll have your answer about the judge's future.
