An El Al passenger plane with more than 100 people on board landed safely Tuesday at Tel Aviv's airport after a wheel burst while the plane was en route to Moscow, forcing the pilot to turn back to Israel.
Israel's Army Radio said the pilot feared the body of the plane had been damaged by the explosion. The radio quoted authorities as saying the crew and passengers remained calm throughout.
About 30 ambulances and fire engines were stationed at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion International Airport, where a state of emergency had been declared, rescue spokesman Yeruham Mandola said. There were 107 passengers on board.
