| | לילה קשה עבר על תושבי קרית טאהש במונטריאול שבקנדה: אש קטלנית פרצה בבנין מגורים בקומה העליונה של בניין בן 18 דירות. האש פרצה אמש (א') בשעה 23:00, כאשר בני המשפחה כבר עלו על יצועם.
חברי ארגון 'השומרים' ו'הצלה' מיהרו למקום, והחלו לשלוף מהדירות את עשרות הילדים שכבר נמו את שנתם.
המחלצים הוציאו תינוקות מבוהלים ואמהות מבוהלות לא פחות. עשן סמיך החל להתפשט בבנין, והאש התפשטה לעבר הקומות התחתונות.
ר' יואל הרש מנדלוביץ - מראשי ארגון 'השומרים' סיפר: "בשעה 11 בלילה קיבלנו את הטלפון הראשון על אש שפרצה בבניין. מיהרנו לבניין, ובינתיים הזעקנו את מכבי האש. במקום פרצה בהלה גדולה. חברת החשמל כיבתה מיד את החשמל בעיירה, ואבות ואמהות היסטריים חיפשו את ילדיהם.
"הקמנו מיד חפ"ק במגרש החניה הסמוך. פתחנו את חנויות הנעלים והבגדים, כדי שאנשים יוכלו להצטייד. צריך לזכור שהשעה היתה 11 וחצי בלילה, ואנשים יצאו מהבניין עם פיג'מות וילדים יחפים.
"מכבי האש הגיעו רק אחרי 25 דקות, כאשר הבנין כולו כבר עלה בלהבות. תושבי הבנין היו בהיסטריה מוחלטת.
"11 כבאיות אש ניסו במשך שעה ארוכה להשתלט על האש. בינתיים אחזה האש גם בבניין הסמוך. אחרי שעתיים של עבודה הצליחו הכבאיות להשתלט על האש ולמנוע את התפשטותה. בינתיים שיבצנו את 18 המשפחות בבתים חילופיים, למשך הלילה, ונצטרך לדאוג להן לדירות, ללבוש ויתר הצרכים. מהבתים שלהם לא נותר זכר".

 This 15-unit apartment complex in Boisbriand was claimed by fire Sunday evening. Boisbriand, Canada - A massive fire that broke out at 11 PM last night in Kiryas Tosh destroying eighteen apartments has left sixteen families homeless. All residents of 112-114 Place Andre Ouellet were evacuated safely but according to CTV Montreal news  three firefighters were injured battling the blaze, whose cause is as yet unknown. An estimated 125 children between the ages of one and ten are among those left homeless by last night’s fire. “They have nothing, everything is burnt down to the bottom,” said Rabbi Sholom Orgel, a secretary to the Tosher Rebbe. While a committee has been formed in Tosh to arrange housing for all the displaced families, a group of Williamsburg askanim in conjunction with several stores, including Weisner’s Dry Goods Store, Casual Corner and Fixler’s Dress Shop are donating clothing which will be sent this afternoon with a group of Williamsburg residents who are traveling to Tosh for the Rebbe’s Rosh Chodesh Seudah. Three firefighters were injured, suffering burns or heat stroke. They were treated on the scene. All apartments were evacuated, and approximately 15 families are homeless and have lost everything. According to a CTV report, the families refused the help of the Red Cross; instead they are coming to each others’ aid within the community. Kiryas Tosh - Massive Fire Leaves 18 Families Without A Home - Fund Has Been Established | Wednesday Aug 03 2011 09:20:00 AM | COMMENTS |  A fire broke out at the very end of Sunday evening on the rue André Ouellet in a neighborhood inhabited by members of the Jewish community known as Kiryas Tosh. At the height of the fire, all the cities belonging to the support of the Lower Laurentians were utilized. A general alarm was triggered for several fire departments and more Boisbriand, the towns of Ste- Therese, Blainville, St-Eustache, Deux-Montagnes, Rosemere-Lorraine, Mirabel (4 teams), Ste-Anne-des- Plains and St. Jerome were on hand. At midnight the flames had diminished in intensity, but the dozens of firefighters on site were still trying to master the destructive element. The extent of the damage was enormous, when all was said and done the fire claimed an 18-unit apartment building. All apartments were evacuated, and approximately 15 families are homeless and have lost everything.
