But I assume that he meant that just because he gives a HECHSER on it in Israel, that does not mean that it is Kosher worldwide

Indeed, it depends on the local bottling company, and there are places in South America (i.e. Peru) where Coke is not kosher

I highly doubt that he would be talking abouth Coca Cola in the US, which the "OU" is machsir

Some info on the Coca Cola issue.

1. Rav Landau did not say that Coca Cola around the world in NOT kosher. He said several times, and keeps on saying, people should no rely on him for the kashrus of Coca Cola around the world. He argues that although the ''Coca Cola flavor'' is identical around the world, there might be other problems such as the use of joint machinery with non kosher products such as grape juice. Secondly, there might be a problem with aluminum cans that have a fat coating.

2. However, I checked the issue with world known kashrus experts, and here is the conclusion.

3. Coca Cola does not use aluminum cans, coated with animal fat, anywhere in the world.

4. The problem of joint machinery does not occur at any of the ''Coca Cola-owned'' factories, or at any of the BIG franchise bottling factories, anywhere in the world. This can only happen at some of the small bottling factories in remote areas, which have ''franchise rights'' to bottle Coca Cola, while still bottling their own soft drinks.

5. Coca Cola is bottled cold, is never kept in the filling machines for a 24-hour period (which would make it ''Kovush'), and the machinery is routinely cleaned between productions. Apparently, even in those small bottling factories, there should be no kashrus program.
