Nominations sought for minority business awards
Organizers of the 11th annual Minority Enterprise Development Week awards breakfast and trade showcase slated for Sept. 14 are seeking nominations for eight companies or individuals to be honored for their efforts and accomplishments in small business.
The awards will be part of the breakfast program at the Phoenix Civic Plaza. Nomination forms and criteria can be downloaded by clicking on the Minority Enterprises Development Awards link under the Special Events section of the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Web site at
www.azhcc.com.
Deadline for nominations is July 9.
To be eligible, the business must have been owned and operated by the nominee for the past five years.
The awards categories are: Retail, Manufacturing, Services, Supplier/Distributor, Construction, Technology, Individual Minority Advocate and Corporate Minority Advocate.
Eligible minority groups are: African-Americans, Puerto Ricans, Spanish-speaking Americans, American Indians, Aleuts, Asian-Pacific Americans, Eskimos and Hasidic Jews

The breakfast will be held from 7:30 to 9 a.m., and the trade showcase begins at 9:15 a.m.
