Barnet council this week begun consulting local residents over plans for an eruv in Edgware.
The local authority sent letters to people who are likely to be directly affected by poles which would be erected if proposals for the religious boundary go ahead.
It would be the capital's second eruv following the construction of the large-scale north west London eruv, which launched last year.
Residents will have until 19 August to voice any concerns over the plans, and these will be discussed at a meeting of the council's planning committee later that month.
According to the letter, the eruv will cover ''the majority of the Edgware area''.
