A 2-year-old Kiryas Joel boy was crushed to death Tuesday afternoon when he rode a plastic tricycle under a delivery van as it pulled away from the curb in front of his family's condominium building, state police said yesterday.
Eli Fischer of 2 Kalev Court was pronounced dead at the Arden Hill campus of Orange Regional Medical Center, where he was taken by ambulance shortly after the 5:50 p.m. accident, investigators said.
The driver, operating a 2002 Chevy box van with dual wheels in back, had just finished making a delivery for Landau's supermarket, which is in the village shopping center on Forest Road, according to police. No charges were filed or are expected in the case.
