Beware of new Heimishe thief

There is a new Heimishe thief doing his rounds in the Yiddishe
neighborhoods. What he does is, he goes into stores that carry valuable
merchandise. He buys a couple of thousand dollars worth, usually jewelry.
He asks the store owner if he can owe half of it and promises to pay
within a couple of days. The man gives the store a copy of his valid
Driver's License, a Credit card and a cell phone number where he can be
reached. He then disappears and is not heard from again. When the cell
phone number is dialed a message comes on stating that he has no money
and will be unable to pay anyone back for at least twelve to twenty four
months. He however promises to pay back every penny eventually. After
doing some investigation on this thief, it was discovered that he lives
in Flatbush and is an addicted gambler. He does this shtick every so
often in different neighborhoods and then gambles away the money. Hi wife
said that he spends less than a couple of weeks at home every year.
