Rick Cutler, on the piano

I am a bit baffled, maybe somebody can help me. I have always known Rick as a superb drummer. His ability to keep time is legendary, yet here is an album released by him,, but he's playing the piano!
Now I really have no problem with that it's just that… how do I explain this,,, it sounds like a 5 year old banging on the keys!!
Please help, I can't understand why he would do something like this,, unless there is something that I am missing, perhaps this a new form of art?
