Important notice from El Al
Dear Travel Agent,
We would like to advise you that as of January 1 2006, El Al is changing the luggage allowance on Trans-Atlantic flights (from/to NYC, MIA, CHI, LAX, YYZ).
Each economy class passenger will be allowed to check in two pieces of luggage at the maximum weight of 50 pounds (23 Kg.) each.
Every piece of luggage that exceeds 50 pounds (23 Kg.) up to 70.5 pounds (32 Kg.) will be charged a flat amount of $25 each way.
Luggage that exceeds 70.5 pounds (32 Kg.) will be charged according to the regular overweight as follows in addition to the flat amount of $25 each way:
- Luggage above 70.5 pounds (32 Kg.) up to 88 pounds (40 Kg) - $130 to/from NYC, CHI, MIA ($140 to/from LAX) each way.
- Luggage above 88 pounds (40 Kg) up to 100 pounds (45 Kg.) - $260 to/from NYC, CHI, MIA ($280 to/from LAX) each way.
- Extra piece of luggage up to 50 pounds (23 Kg.) - $130 to/from NYC, CHI, MIA ($140 to/from LAX) each way.
Infants are allowed to have one piece of luggage in the above mentioned weight.
The size of each piece of luggage is determined by the sum of the length, height and width which should not exceed 62 inches (158 cm.). Over sizing these measurements will result a charge of an extra piece.
First class passengers are allowed four pieces of luggage at the maximum weight of 70.5 pounds (32 Kg.) and Platinum class passengers are allowed three pieces of luggage at the maximum weight of 70.5 pounds (32 Kg.).
Please forward this important information to our joint customers in order to avoid any unpleasant situations at the check-in counters.
