הרב הראשי לישראל, שלמה עמאר, שיגר מכתב לאפיפיור, בנדיקטוס ה-16, ובו הוא מבקש ממנו לצאת בקריאה "נרגשת חזקה וחד משמעית" נגד עריכת מצעד הגאווה בירשלים.
לדברי עמאר, עריכת המצעד יחלל את כבודה של ירושלים.
