A Virtual Machine is an application that will allow you to run another OS, besides the one you are allready running, at the same time. Each OS has its own VHD file, were all OS files, database, and settings are saved. So it's like installing a new operating system on your pc without messing with your hard-drive partition and files. If you want to delete the new OS simply delete the 1 VHD file.
For Example, you want to Install Windows Server 2003 to test it, but you don't have a brand new server to install it on and test, you can use your same pc that is used for hydpark, to run a Virtual PC of Windows Server 2003 OS.
But be sure you have at least 1 gb or RAM, since virtual pc uses allot of RAM.
Don't be scared to install it and try it your self
