NEW YORK - Twenty-six elementary schoolchildren on a field trip to a science museum were hurt when their bus and a car collided on a Queens highway, officials said Thursday.
None of the fourth-graders was seriously hurt, officials said.
The bus, one of three taking children from P.S. 108 in Brooklyn to the New York Hall of Science for the day, hit the car at about 10:10 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the Van Wyck Expressway, fire and school officials said.
All of the children were wearing seat belts, said city schools spokeswoman Margie Feinberg.
The children were treated at Jamaica Hospital; at least seven had been released and those who remained were stable, officials said.
The cause of the accident was under investigation.
