Thieves broke into a Ross Street man's home over the July 4 weekend, grabbing cash, jewelry and silver coins.

The crooks got into the apartment, which is between Lee Avenue and Williamsburg Street, between 5 am on July 4 and 12:45 pm on July 6, while the victim was upstate.

Once inside, the crooks busted open an office and stole $7,180. They also pilfered a bedroom dresser for jewelry and 40 valuable collector's coins.

The crooks might have gotten into the apartment through a second-floor screen window, which was off its track, cops said.
