Avi Frier the Magician and the Miami Boys Choir
By: Josh Block (www.joshsjm.com)
Special thanks to Rance & Sheryl Block for
attending the concert and providing pictures and information
This concert was very similar to the concert in Staten Island. See the write up from that concert for more details.
The first half of the show began with a 20 minute magic show by Avi Frier known as the ''Magical Comedy of Avi.'' It included 3 tricks involving locks, bandanas, and finally a guillotine.
The order of the show was as follows Revach, Medley: Shovas and Nikadesh, Baavor Dovid Avdecha, and Yeruashalayim. The intermission was next. It was supposed to be 10 minutes but lasted for about 20 minutes.
The second half began with a D'var Torah by Rabbi David Lehrfield of Young Israel of Miami. The Miami Boys Choir actually began in his living room 32 years ago in 1976.
Miami came out for the second half singing a Medley: Lo Yisa Goy, Od Yishoma, Tehilas Hashem, Kol Mi, and Ki Hashem. They continued with one of their new songs, Eso Einai, followed by Hinei Ma Tov and a Slow Medley of Achas Shoalti, Va'ani, and Zoakti.
Yerachmiel now took some time to ask questions in which audience members answered for a CD.
The concert continued with Yavoh, another new song, followed by When and B'syata D'shmaya. Next, Yerachmiel introduced the 10 choir members on stage. They ended with a finale similar to that of the last concert…. ''Yair Kenig tapped Yerachmiel on the shoulder and said ''I have an idea of what song we should sing.'' Yerachmiel sat down at the keyboard and started to play Klal Yisroel Together. Yair sang it as the choir joined in. Then David Herskowitz did the same with Adon Olam. Finally, Yoshi Bender suggested We Need You. The choir sang that for a little. In the end, Yerachmiel suggests ''a song that represents our hopes and our dreams for the future.'' Someone in the audience yelled Moshiach!! Yerachmiel agreed, and the concert ended with a wonderful rendition of Moshiach.''
Yerachmiel did mention that the CD will be out next month, possibly in March.
