Brooklyn, NY - Approximately one dozen Williamsburg residents woke up this morning to discover their vehicles’ windows shattered by a pellet gun, police are trying to determine if the vehicles were selected randomly or if they were targeted by anti-Semitic vandals.
The overnight shooting spree began early this morning at 12:15 AM when Rabbi Aron Kraus of Williamsburg was traveling southbound on the Harlem River Drive from Monsey and an unknown individual in a dark colored SUV pulled up next to his car and shot out the windows with a pellet gun. Just thirty minutes later, the first car windows were discovered shattered in Williamsburg and at least twelve cars parked on Lee Avenue near Lynch Street had been vandalized.

A swastika was spray-painted on the door of a kosher foods business on 16th St. in Borough Park, Brooklyn.
An Orthodox-Jewish neighborhood in Brooklyn was defaced with Nazi swastikas in a half-dozen different spots — including on a synagogue, police said Friday.
“What kind of sick person does this in a neighborhood of Holocaust survivors?” asked Assemblyman Dov Hikind, a Democrat who represents Borough Park.
Police on Friday night released surveillance images of two suspects being sought, both described as white or Hispanic men their 20s. One suspect wore a light hat, T-shirt and shoes, while the other wore black shorts and shoes, a light hoodie and glasses.
Three of the hated symbols were discovered painted along 16th Avenue — on a synagogue, Stolin Bais Medrash; on the security gate at Fishmans Grocery; and at 16th Avenue Glatt Takeout, according to cops.
Another swastika was spotted on the side of a van parked on 42nd St. between 15th and 16th Avenues, police said. And the fifth was found painted on a building on 18th Ave.
A sixth swastika was discovered on a car parked outside of Junior High School 223, police said.

This suspect in his 20s, who was wearing black shorts, black shoes, a light colored hoodie and glasses, was captured on videotape defacing buildings with swastikas.
Police are looking for whoever is responsible and the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating.
“There will be no tolerance for hatred here and our community will address this from top to bottom,” said Hikind, whose parents also survived the Holocaust. “We’ll show that we’re serious about prosecuting criminals who would hurt us with their vile actions.”
City Councilman David Greenfield — who represents Midwood, Boro Park and Bensonhurst — has put up a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
“Once again, we find ourselves under attack from individuals who think nothing of spreading hate and fear throughout the community,” he said in a statement.
There have been a series of swastika vandalisms in predominantly Jewish neighborhoods in recent months.
In January, a half-dozen swastikas were found in the heavily Jewish Midwood section. Nobody was arrested.

The same suspect is videotaped spray-painting the swastikas in Borough Park, Brooklyn.
That same month, a troubled Manhattan man named David Haddad was nabbed by police for allegedly going on a swastika-painting spree in his Chelsea neighborhood and in Midwood.
Haddad, who had been raised Jewish, was turned in by relatives who said he was harassing them.
Anti-Muslim hate graffiti has also been reported in Brooklyn’s Kensington neighborhood, where many immigrants from Pakistan and Bangladesh live.

Brooklyn, NY - At approximately 12:30 this morning, Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) was awakened by concerned neighbors who called to tell him that more anti-Semitic graffiti had been found down the block from his home on East 5th Street between Avenue L and the Dead End in Midwood, Brooklyn. A large black swastika had been painted along with two smaller black swastikas on a private driveway with the hate message, “Die Jews.” Across the street, two swastikas were also painted on the door of an apartment building at 1293 East 5th Street.
Hikind rushed from his home, where he found a crowd of concerned people gathered on the street despite the late hour. Hikind noted that the general sentiment expressed by community residents was, “Here we go again. When will these attacks stop?”
Hikind said, “Can you imagine coming home and seeing swastikas painted on your property? This is just the latest in a series of ongoing anti-Semitic occurrences in Brooklyn and throughout New York City, and people are justifiably very concerned and upset. Almost every day, there seems to be another incident reported. The police have hardly made an arrest in any of these cases. I am calling on the NYPD to use every resource available to apprehend the person(s) responsible for these heinous acts so that people in the community can once again have peace of mind.”

Yet another hate crime has hit the Orthodox Jewish community of New York. The latest attack was on Ocean Parkway and Avenue L, in the heart of the Midwood Community. The swastikas were painted on the Yeshiva of Brooklyn, as well as a nearby garage.
Detectives from the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Unit are on the scene, as well as local elected officials, and many news agencies.
Standing in front of his district’s latest incident of swastika graffiti at a large yeshiva on the corner of Ocean Parkway and Avenue L, Councilman David G. Greenfield condemned what he termed “an epidemic of swastikas in New York City.”
“In the last few weeks we have seen swastikas painted across New York–from Midwood, Brooklyn to Midtown Manhattan and beyond. We will not accept these open displays of hatred, and those responsible must be brought to justice. I thank the NYPD’s 66th Precinct, Hate Crimes Unit, and Crime Scene Unit for their swift response to today’s incident, which is clearly aimed at terrorizing not only America’s largest Jewish community but also the nation’s largest community of Holocaust survivors.”

Brooklyn, NY - 'Hitler Is Great' Scrawled In Borough Park Apartment Building
Brooklyn, NY - Swastikas were found scrawled in a Borough Park apartment building, authorities said.
A 41-year-old tenant in the six-story building on 14th Avenue near 48th Street found five swastikas and “Hitler is great” scrawled near the buttons of the elevator at about 9 p.m. Tuesday, cops said.
The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating.
