Felder Praises DOT Ocean Parkway Initiative
Brooklyn – You may have noticed them. They are large and green and
City Councilman Simcha Felder thinks that they are a good idea. They
are the brand new extra-large street signs on Ocean Parkway,
installed this week by the City's Department of Transportation.
"This is a very good thing for both commuters and neighborhood
residents," said Felder, who represents Midwood and Borough Park. "I
want to thank the administration for giving our neighborhood a little
added charm."
There is already a buzz in the community about the change. The new
signs are several times larger than normal street signs and hang
directly over the parkway, not over the street corners. The result
is easier to read, harder to miss, street signs that are already
popular with motorists and Parkway residents, Felder said.
"I haven't heard any complaints, which is rare," he said with a
smile. "I'm glad they scrapped plans to have the signs read 18th
Avenue: Oy Vey!"
