Nazi T-shirt angers IOC member
A GERMAN International Olympic Committee member called on the IOC's athletes' commission yesterday to check athletes' T-shirts after spotting one with a reference to a Nazi war tactic.
''I saw an athlete in the Olympic Village wearing a T-shirt that said 'Blitzkrieg - it's only a game','' an angry Walther Troeger told an IOC meeting.
Nazi Germany used the Blitzkrieg – lightning war – attack tactic to surprise enemies in the early days of World War II.
''They (athletes' commission) should do something about it. We should stop such a thing in the Olympic Village,'' Troeger told former pole vault champion Sergei Bubka, who heads the commission. – Reuters
