Levin Will Manage 40,000 Sq. Ft. of Street Retail in Boro Park
BORO PARK — Duane Reade, The Children's Place, HSBC Bank, Mimi Maternity, Payless Shoe Source are among the Boro Park shops that will now be under the care of Levin Management Corp., based in North Plainfield, N.J., according to a company announcement released this week.
Levin Management will provide leasing and management services for the ''portfolio of retail properties'' that totals approximately 40,000 square feet spread across several city blocks in the Brooklyn community.
Each retail site is owned by a separate group of individuals, and all are operated by the same managing partner, Samuel Goldstein.
''We chose Levin because we wanted a management company that was going to communicate well with tenants in this very special group of properties,'' said Goldstein. ''They seemed to be large enough to handle the complexities and small enough to respond to our needs.''
Levin officials were pleased with the new assignment, as discussions had gone on for nearly two years.
''We have a staying power that smaller companies cannot provide and a list of services so broad that few companies can match,'' said Mathew Harding, president and COO of Levin Management.
Known primarily for managing open-air strip-center retail, Levin also has experience in managing other street retail properties in Brooklyn, according to Goldstein. Levin's in-house accounting department, which is as large as many accounting firms, was also a factor in the decision
