WOMAN KILLED BY SCHOOL BUS IN B'KLYN
November 24, 2004 -- A school bus struck and killed an elderly woman in Brooklyn last night, police and witnesses said.
The bus, which had about seven children aboard, was traveling on 43rd Street in Borough Park. It hit the woman, who appeared to be in her 70s, while the driver was trying to make a left onto 13th Avenue, witnesses said.
Henry Arizemendi, 31, who lives nearby, immediately ran to help her but it was too late.
"Her leg was broken and her neck must have been broken, too, because it was at a weird position," he said.
She was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman had been shopping at a nearby market, witnesses said.
Another bus picked up the children, who attend a local Jewish school.
