I have heard some of Kalish's work, I am very impressed!terific arranging, I love what he does with the drums, and the choked cymbals in the new shloime cohen album track 8

I hear that Hershi did a wedding in London last Sunday, the mavinim say it was amazing!
anyone know anything about it?
I hear he flew in the cream of the crop of israeli musicians.
i think there was one record that was overlooked in terms of arrangements and that is Ken Burgess second album "Rebuild His Kingdom

ok lets discuss but lets remember that we are discussing his second CD not the first and not the third.
the first reason that i loved his arrangements was because it was out of the ordinary, for example the third song "israel" has a great intro (in my opinion) bass guitar playing a soulfull intro, which another arranger would probably assign to a sax or similar instrument which brings me to to my second reason; i believe that ken really knows how to bring the best out of musicians. lets take avi singolda for example on every recording that he plays its usually the same stuff over and over again even on the so called "singolda" album that just came out there is nothing that avi shows that he hasnt shown before. but, on this recording you will hear stuff you never heard before and the same goes to aryeh and the rest of the musicians and i think we have ken to thank for that .
another reason that i like him (i dont know if this falls under the arranger catagory or the composer) is that alot of his songs have a musical touch to them, i'll try to explain this. take these songs for example Bye Bye, Heading For The Good Time, these songs have a certain "riff" that you can play over the whole song. it doesnt sound like the typical "ershte' faal in tsveite faal" know what i mean? if you want to try it out take the intro of "bye bye" and hum it along while the whole song is playing
....... now as to his singing......

His song "Onu Bikoach" on the first album is, (in my
opinion) teriffic
as is "Good, Right & Reason - Yeedle"
very powerful songs I really like them.
Hey muzakal why don't you open a new thread on him?

muzakal, i totaly agree about your singolda views. well said
Ken does know his stuff and arranges his style exceptionaly like a pro.
his compositions are great but.... d a r k.. thats just his style.
If you know the man... and what a lovely (but english) guy he is.... it's somehow difficult to see him conducting.... i mean
even counting in the musicians. He's there with the hot blooded israelis and he's this layed back english man.
BTW muzakal, welcome to the world of OLOM HANEGINA.... muzakal.....muzakal.... you sound turkish
