It was a difficult time for Daejan Holdings last year, with a sharp fall in its share price from the peaks of 2006. In spite of its solid balance sheet and conservative approach to borrowing, it has felt the effects of the property slowdown. Freshwater, 60, the chairman, and his family have a 79% stake in trusts in the London-based property group, now worth £389m. Freshwater has more than 200 directorships, and we cautiously estimate the net assets at £550m. We add £31m for past dividends and other wealth.
