Borough, NY - In an unprecedented show of unity, Councilman Brad Lander (39th) and his previous opponent John Heyer, who swept Borough-Park ED's, will together announce their support to Joe Lazar's candidacy, VIN News has confirmed.
In the Electoral-Districts that the Heyer-Team targeted had very high voting turnout and voted for Heyer over Lander in unseen proportions.
The Heyer-Team's effectiveness transcends district lines and it includes parts of many districts and zip codes, it's mainly the area known as Borough Park.
The Heyer-Team was also responsible for the increase of 22 percent in the 2009 general election over the turnout in 2005, where the group chose to run only a Get-Out-The-Vote campaign.
Noting on the Lander endorsement an activist in the Brooklyn community told VIN News, Lander is a real Mentch, he went out of his way to make up with the Heyer team by inviting them to his inauguration event, and met with them individually and their affiliated charity grassroots organizations.
Lander and Heyer agreed to jointly endorse Joe Lazar on Friday, symbolizing that both sides of Borough-Park's last election are joining as one to elect Joe Lazar.
Another 'Asken' noted: "The significance of the endorsement of the losing candidate might not seem important, but what is symbolizes is the people who ran the Heyer campaign will be helping Joe Lazar as well, noted a Political guru from Brooklyn who asked to remain anonymous."
Mr. Heyer released the following statement to VIN News: "I will be eternally grateful to the voters of borough park for taking me into their hearts. I have had a great opportunity to learn of both the many blessings and needs of the borough park communities, and I am convinced that Joe Lazar is the man best able to honor those blessings and address those needs in the City Council"
