JC: You got married?
WC: Yeah. On Jan. 18. It was really something because my wife is an Orthodox Jew.
JC: Where did you meet her?
WC: It's a long story. (laughs)
JC: On the Internet?
WC: No (laughs), I don't know how to work a computer! We just met. I've known her for two years. We love each other very much and when two people love each other, everything is possible.
JC: Did you convert to Judaism?
WC: No. I'm Puerto Rican. I got a lot of respect for her religion. Her parents do Shabbat and go to temple.
JC: What's her name?
WC: Lisa Jacobs. She's a psychologist.
JC: Did you have to practice the ceremony?
WC: No. We had to find a rabbi who is going to do that and not every rabbi will do an interfaith marriage.
JC: What was the wedding like?
WC: It was on Fisher Island. I got to meet her family. They're originally from New York but they live in Hollywood. The ceremony was totally different than what I grew up with but it was a lot of fun.
JC: How different?
WC: All that stuff, I had no idea. I was just following what the rabbi was telling me to do.
JC: Were you afraid you might hurt your ankle when you smashed the glass?
WC: No, no. And they didn't pick us up; we sat in the chair and they all danced around us. It was pretty interesting. For people like me, I didn't know that much about it. But once you fall in love, you get all that stuff.
JC: And what did you say before you smashed the glass?
WC: Mazel tov!
JC: What does mazel tov mean?
WC: (laughs) I got no idea! I'm still working on that stuff. I'm getting better.
JC: Will you wear your yarmulke under your Marlins cap?
WC: You never know! You might see me one day with it!
